カナダ首相とトランプの共同記者会見：「北朝鮮は大きな問題、強く対応」、ツイッターではカナダ首相の話だけ、安保理「報道声明」で北朝鮮非難 （2017年2月13日 「White House」）
13日、米国を訪問したカナダのトルドー首相との共同記者会見での北朝鮮に関するトランプ発言。

明らかに北朝鮮は、大きな、大きな問題で、我々はそれに対してとても強く対応する。我々は中東のあちこちで問題を抱えている。地球のどこを見回しても問題ばかりだ。

「大きな、大きな」なので、彼の中での認識はしっかりとあるのだろう。そして、「とても強く対応」と言っているが、具体的な「対応」を言わない。トランプは、思ったことを即決、即断し「入国禁止」や「TPP脱退」に関する大統領令を出してきた。また、メキシコ国境との壁についても、建設する方向で進めている。その系からすると、北朝鮮に対してももう少し何か具体的に「対応」の内容を述べて欲しいところなのだが、まだ出てきていない。困っているのか、気にしていないのか、あるいは水面下で何かが動き出しているのか、今一つよく分からない。
ツイッターでは、今のところ北朝鮮に関する発言はない。トルドー首相が引き連れていった女性経済人に囲まれて嬉しそうな顔で写っている写真はアップロードされているが。
一方、国連安保理では12日の北朝鮮のミサイル発射を「安保理決議違反」と非難する｢報道声明」が13日（現地時間）に出された。

安保理では、「朝鮮半島の平和と安定を維持することが重要」ということと、「対話を通じた総合的な問題解決」が必要である問うことが再確認され、「安保理は情勢を注視し、さらなる重大な措置をとることで合意した」とある。「さらなる重大な措置」が今回のミサイル発射に対するものなのか、今後の安保理決議違反に対するものなのかは今一つ明確ではない。
「さらなる重大な措置」は、「対話による解決」と相反する軍事オプションぐらいしか残っていないし、中国は真剣に安保理決議を履行しているようではないし、国連安保理も困っているのであろう。
The Council reiterated the importance of maintaining peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in north-east Asia at large and welcomed efforts by Council members, as well as other States, to facilitate a peaceful and comprehensive solution through dialogue. It also stressed the importance of working to reduce tensions in the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
The members of the Council agreed to continue close monitoring of the situation and to take further significant measures, in line with the Council's previously expressed determination.
