6日の米国務省定例記者会見で、オバマ大統領が「元帥様」を「人権侵害者」に指定したことに関する質疑があった。まず、この指定に関する情報の確認からすると、

(セクション304)国務省は、(1)北朝鮮による重大な人権侵害あるいは検閲に責任がある個人を指摘し、(2)-(1)の内容を記述した報告書を提出しなければならない。

大統領は、リストに記載された北朝鮮による検閲あるいは人権侵害を実行したり助長している者を制裁の対象として指定しなければならない。

「元帥様」の誕生年を「1984年」としているが、その根拠は何だろうか。過去記事にした、高ヨンスクの証言を採用したのであろうか。
冒頭に書いた6日の国務省定例記者会見では、「元帥様」をリストアップすることが北朝鮮の人権状況の改善に繋がるのかと記者の質問に対し、象徴的な意味合いはあると答えている。
北朝鮮は、米国の「人権騒ぎ」の対象が「元帥様」に及んだことに対する反発するであろうが、そもそも「我々式人権」を米国は分かっていないというスタンスなので、インパクトは少ないであろう。
